Pet Insurance Partnership
Don't tell me this town ain't got no heart!
Built around three simple principles:
- proceeds support local rescues
- receive 10% off your annual premium
- guidance from a local broker
The reality
Veterinary care has advanced dramatically in recent years. These advances save lives—but they also come with higher costs. Emergency visits, diagnostics, surgeries, and ongoing treatment can quickly add up, often reaching thousands of dollars with little warning.
Most pet guardians don’t plan for these moments—not because they don’t care, but because they never expect to be placed in a position where finances dictate medical decisions for someone they love.
This is a reality faced by caring, responsible people every day.
Stella's story
At seven years old, she developed a slight limp that gradually worsened. After a veterinary evaluation, she was diagnosed with a torn cruciate ligament—a common and very treatable condition.
Medication and restricted activity weren’t enough. Her quality of life declined, and surgery was recommended. It was a routine procedure with an excellent prognosis, but the cost—including surgery and rehabilitation—was approximately $6,500.
At the time, I did not have pet insurance.
I found myself caught between financial stress and the suffering of a companion who depended entirely on me. I chose surgery, and after months of rehab, Stella was back to her happy, active self.
Only weeks later, she began limping on her other leg. As often happens with cruciate injuries, the second ligament had torn as well.
As someone who works in insurance for a living, I had not planned for this. I share Stella’s story not to evoke sympathy, but in the hope that others may be better prepared than I was.
The bottom line
When faced with a veterinary bill you cannot afford, the options are often reduced to three:
- surrender your pet
- euthanize your pet
- allow your pet to suffer
None of these reflect a lack of love. They reflect a lack of preparation.
How pet insurance helps
Pet insurance is designed to remove financial barriers from medical decisions. By covering a significant portion of unexpected veterinary expenses, insurance allows pet guardians to focus on care—not cost—when it matters most.
Coverage helps with:
- Accidents, Injuries & Illness
- 24/7 Vet Chat
- Optional Wellness & Vet Exam Fee Coverage
The goal is not perfection or prediction—it’s preparedness.
Why rescues are part of this
Rescues and animal welfare organizations are often the last safety net when guardians are unable to afford care. These organizations are already strained, underfunded, and asked to do more every year.
I didn’t have pet insurance at the time. When Stella needed surgery and rehab, the cost was overwhelming—and it made me realize how quickly a family can end up facing decisions no one should have to make.
This partnership was created to support that ecosystem.
Through this program:
- pet guardians receive trusted coverage and a local point of contact
- participating organizations receive ongoing financial support
- rescues are not asked to sell or manage insurance in any way
How can you participate?
This partnership is intentionally simple and community-driven. It’s designed to make participation easy for organizations and individuals who already believe in responsible pet care—without creating extra work or obligation.
For animal rescues, participation can be as simple as sharing information with adopters the way many already do today—now through a local, values-aligned partner that gives back.
For animal-friendly businesses—such as veterinary practices, groomers, trainers, and retailers—participation may simply mean making a flyer or link available to clients who may find it helpful.
For pet guardians, participation is a choice. If you’re exploring pet insurance, you can choose to work with a local broker who offers trusted coverage while supporting local rescues.
This is not a corporate kiosk or automated enrollment platform. We provide the materials, guidance, and support. There are no quotas, obligations, or sales involvement—only an opportunity to participate in a shared effort that benefits animals and the organizations that protect them.
